PIN DROP 01

GRAVITATE PIN DROP 001 - YORKSHIRE DALES HIKE

HAMMERING IT DOWN WITH RAIN, MIST OVER THE HILLS, AND A VAN THAT NEEDED A LITTLE PERSUASION FROM THE AA... OUR FIRST PIN DROP WAS OFFICIALLY ON.

We’re always dropping pins, sharing spots on WhatsApp, and meeting at places that feel a little off the grid. The idea behind the Pin Drop series was a way to get out of the endless bad breath, body odour, and soul-sucking sameness of city life, and breathe somewhere that feels alive.

Pin drops is a tribute to the road trip, to the stories, conversation and connection it unlocks. We want to bring that essence into everything we do with pins and really build our community through a shared sense of exploration, getting off our phones and trying to be more present, which feels like it’s getting harder to do.

After an early start from London in our trusty red Citroën van, we headed North in search of some of Yorkshire’s finest hills and the promise of a proper cup of tea.

On route, and in true Gravitate style, our van proved a little less than reliable, coughing its way up to a service station, and after two AA call-outs, we found ourselves making a quick detour to the home of UK car mods, Bradford, where we headed to a tuning garage to the only people who could get our stubborn little red van back on the road.

By the time we rolled into the car park for our first Pin drop, we weren’t sure who would make it down, given the weather. But to our surprise, a proper crew had assembled to get out in the rain and the hill for a quick hike, followed by some brews from Yorkshire Tea before the next rainstorm came through.

Big love to everyone who came down, we’ll see you at the next one.
